UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN - MADISON FIGURE SKATING CLUB

ARTICLE I. Name and Purpose of Organization

The name of the organization shall be the University of Wisconsin-Madison Figure Skating Club. The purpose of this club is to encourage the participation and enjoyment of college students in the sport of figure skating, and to encourage college skaters to compete in free skating and precision events with other college skaters and teams in USFSA college conferences.

ARTICLE II. Membership

Membership is open to all interested University of Wisconsin-Madison students.

ARTICLE III. Officers

A. The officers of the Club shall consist of a President, a Vice President, a Secretary, a Treasurer, and a Membership Officer, elected to serve one-year terms.

B. The President shall organize the Club and its business, scheduling regular meetings and being responsible for all communication between the University of Wisconsin - Madison and the Club, between USFSA and the Club, and between the Academic Advisor and the Club.

C. The Vice President shall assist the President in his/her duties and take over the presidency and its responsibilities in the absence of the President.

D. The Secretary shall be responsible for keeping the minutes of the club meetings and club records as well as administrative duties. The Secretary will also be responsible for all communication within the club.

E. The Treasurer shall be responsible for the finances of club, fundraisers, membership dues, and purchasing ice time.

F. The Membership Officer shall be responsible for member status, public relations, and recruitment of new members.

G. Elections shall be held each spring (in May starting in the year 2000), and if an officer resigns or is removed from office during the year, a replacement may be elected at the next regularly scheduled Club meeting. Officers shall be elected by a majority of the members present at a publicized meeting.

H. If there are complaints concerning an officer, made and responded to in a publicized Club meeting, and if a majority of the membership agrees that the complaints warrant a ballot to determine removal, a secret ballot should be taken, and the officer removed from office if there is a three-fourths majority decision.
Amendment 1: ARTICLE I shall now read:

“The name of the organization shall be the University of Wisconsin-Madison Figure Skating Club. The purpose of this club is to encourage the participation and enjoyment of University of Wisconsin-Madison students, faculty, and staff in the sport of figure skating, and to encourage those students, faculty, and staff to compete in free skating and synchronized skating events with other college figure skaters and teams in USFSA college conferences.”

Amendment 2: ARTICLE II shall now read:

“Membership is open to all interested University of Wisconsin-Madison students, faculty, and staff.”

Amendment 3: ARTICLE III shall now include the following officers and the corresponding duties:
Fundraising Officer – The Fundraising Officer shall perform all the duties necessary to organize and carry out club fundraisers and shall work with the Treasurer in obtaining funding, grants, and miscellaneous revenue.

Synchronized Skating Representatives – The Synchronized Skating Representatives shall act as liaisons between the club and the synchronized skating team and shall handle all administrative duties of the team including, but not limited to, completing all necessary registration and competition forms and organizing travel arrangements.

Social Chair – The Social Chair shall organize all non-skating club events designed to promote club unity, teamwork, and friendships.

Technology Chair – The Technology Officer shall maintain and update the club website as well as reply to email received at the uwfsc@hotmail.com address.

Amendment 4: ARTICLE II shall now read:

“Club membership is open to all interested University of Wisconsin-Madison students, faculty, and staff. All club members interested in competing with the traveling synchronized skating team may be subject to a try-out conducted by the team coach and captains. ”

Amendment 5: ARTICLE III shall now read:

Synchronized Team Skating Captains and Representatives (2) – The Synchronized Team Skating Captains and Representatives shall act as liaisons between the club and the synchronized skating team and shall handle all administrative duties of the team including, but not limited to, completing all necessary registration and competition forms and organizing travel arrangements. They will also act as team captains and perform duties such as running practices in the absence of the coach, taking attendance, enforcing rules, and making team purchases.


Amendment 6: Section C of ARTICLE III shall now read:

C. The Vice President shall assist the President in his/her duties and take over the presidency and its responsibilities in the absence of the President, and assume the President’s position when the office is vacated.


Amendment 7: Section A of ARTICLE III shall now read:

A. The officers of the Club shall consist of a President, a Vice President, a Secretary, a Treasurer, a Membership Officer, a Fundraising Officer, two Synchronized Team Skating Captains, a Social Chair, and a Technology Chair, elected to serve one-year terms.

Amendment 8: ARTICLE III shall now read and include the following officers and the corresponding duties:
A. The officers of the Club shall consist of a President, a Synchronized Skating Chairman, a Individual Chairman, a Secretary, a Treasurer, a Fundraising Officer, a Social Chair, and a Technology Chair, elected to serve one-year terms.
Individual Skating Chairman - The Individual Skating Chairman shall be responsible for creating and maintaining the Individual Skating Team.  They shall act as liaisons between the club and the individual skating team and shall handle all administrative duties of the team including, but not limited to, completing all necessary registration and competition forms and organizing travel information.
Synchronized Skating Chairman – The Synchronized Skating Chairman shall act as liaisons between the club and the synchronized skating team.
